Gear pumps for bitumen and road construction
Asphalt plants, emulsion units, terminals and sprayers: every bitumen pump starts with heat. Choose your fluid for the specific configuration.
BitumenBitumen is a solid at ambient temperature and only becomes pumpable when it is kept hot — above 150 °C in most plants.CR, SB or SEF
Bitumen emulsionBitumen emulsions for tack coats, prime coats and surface treatments are pumped at moderate temperature and at low speed: too much shear, heat or a dry run and the emulsion breaks inside the pump, leaving bitumen on the gears.SB, NAV or CR
Cut-back bitumenCut-back is bitumen fluxed with solvents such as kerosene or naphtha: easier to pump than straight bitumen and handled at lower temperature, but with volatile, flammable fractions.CR or SB
Polymer-modified bitumenModified bitumen with SBS, APP or similar polymers is much stiffer than straight-run grades and its viscosity climbs fast as soon as temperature drops.CR or SEF
Thermal oilThermal (heat-transfer) oil is what keeps every other pump on a bitumen or chocolate plant hot.ZV, NAV or CR
