Full heating jacket — CR Series
On the CR Series the jacket wraps the whole pumping chamber, not just part of the body. It connects to the plant circuit and is heated by thermal oil, steam or superheated water. Heat is uniform, without cold spots where the fluid could stop.
Hot-spot kit — no boiler needed
Many sites in emerging markets have no central thermal-oil boiler. For them the CR jacket is filled with thermal oil heated by immersion heaters (up to three of 300 W each) and circulated by a small 8 ZV pump. A precision thermostat switches the heaters; an expansion tank absorbs the oil's expansion. The circuit must be started hours before the process pump, and the whole unit must be insulated.
Electric cartridges in the pump body
A standard pump without jacket becomes a heated pump with 2 or 4 electric cartridges inserted in the body, controlled by an electronic thermoregulator, a temperature probe and a solid-state relay. The heat is generated inside the body, without the losses of external heating bands.
Typical fluids
Bitumen (kept above 150 °C), modified bitumen, tar, pitch, wax, paraffin, stearin, chocolate, hot-melt, rosin, liquid sulfur, heavy fuel oil, palm oil.
Frequently asked questions
Can I heat the pump without a boiler?
Yes, with the hot-spot kit (thermal oil heated by immersion heaters and circulated by an 8 ZV pump) or with electric cartridges in the pump body.
How early must heating start?
With the hot-spot kit the circuit is started hours before the process pump, so the fluid in the chamber is already molten at start-up.
Does the pump need insulation?
Yes. Insulating the whole unit is essential to keep the working temperature and avoid wasting energy.
